Med Sled Evacuation Devices Installation Complete

HCPSS recently installed cabinets to house a Med Sled emergency evacuation device to help transport individuals with mobility issues. The devices are now in place at every enclosed evacuation stairwell in all schools with multiple stories, with a total of 32 schools receiving 140 devices and cabinets.

Special Education Teacher Interview Fair

 

Thursday, March 5, 3-7 p.m., River Hill High School

Applicants for special education and related service provider positions may register for a curriculum interview with specialists from the Department of Special Education.

 

Research In Science and Engineering (RISE) Conference

 

Wednesday, March 11, 6-9 p.m., Centennial High School

All middle and high school students interested in STEM are invited to learn from industry professionals about STEM careers and explore internship opportunities. Hosted by the Centennial High School Science National Honor Society.

 

Public Hearing: School Activity Funds

 

Thursday, March 12, 7 p.m., Board of Education

The Board will hold a public hearing on Policy 4030 School Activity Funds. Learn how you can provide testimony.

 

Restorative Justice in Education Conversation

 

Monday, March 23, 6-8:30 p.m., St. John Baptist Church

HCPSS, the Howard County Education Association and the Restorative Justice Partnership invite the community to attend a conversation and book signing with Kathy Evans, who co-authored “The Little Book of Restorative Justice in Education."

International Parent Leadership Program

 

The four-week program helps international parents to make informed decisions about their child’s education and prepare for leadership roles in schools and communities as advocates on behalf of the system’s international students. Apply by Tuesday, March 3.

 

Recruitment Event for Teachers of Color

 

Come meet educators and school leaders from across HCPSS on Tuesday, March 24. During this full-day recruitment event, participants will learn about teaching positions in HCPSS, discover how HCPSS supports and develops educators, tour some schools and start the application process.

 

1st Grade Art Showcase

 

Members of the public are invited to view colorful artworks by Grade 1 students, on display in the Department of Education gallery through Tuesday, April 14.

 

Update on Summer Program Registration

 

The February window for summer program registration has closed. Requests are now being reviewed, and all students will be placed in the course of their selection or on a waitlist, and notified by email by March 1. The March window for on-site and online enrollment requests begins Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m.
