MRHS Music Students
DONATE OR SELL YOUR USED CONCERT ATTIRE

We would like to offer you the opportunity to donate or sell your used "concert black" gown, palazzo pants & blouse, slacks, shirt, tie, and/or garment bag which you purchased.  Many of you are graduating or simply moving on from the music program and no longer want your concert attire.

DONATE: You may donate your concert attire to the Music Foundation.  There will be a light sage green bin in the choir room starting on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 14, where you may put your CLEAN, but used concert attire.  Once you donate your attire to this box, you are donating it to the Music Foundation.  We will sell or lend it to students next year and all proceeds will go to the Music Foundation.  The bin will be out until May 31.

CONSIGNMENT:  You may put your concert attire on consignment through the Music Foundation.  If you are interested in selling your CLEAN used attire (usually for about half what you bought it for), please KEEP your attire at your home.  We keep a spreadsheet of items on consignment to sell to new students or those who need a different size at the beginning of the school year.

Send the following information to Sharon Stewart (SLStew88@gmail.com):

  • type of attire (gown, palazzo pants & blouse, slacks, shirt, tie, or garment bag)
  •
  • height of person the gown, pants, or slacks were hemmed to (with notes like '1" hem', '4" hem so can be let out', etc.)
  • price you are asking
  • condition of attire (worn twice, very good, shows some wear, etc.)
  • seller's name
  • seller's email
  • seller's phone number

We will make this list public next fall.  Families looking for used attire will contact you, so leave contact information of someone in this area who will be able to arrange a sale (especially if you are away at college).  You will be responsible for meeting with the buyer and arranging the sale.

FIND A FRIEND: You can sell or give your attire to someone you know, without going through the Music Foundation.

CLEANING:  All concert black attire (except the ties) can be washed in cold water and tumbled dry on low.  Please wash your used attire before you donate or sell it!  Thanks!

MRHS PTSA is LOOKING for
A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS for NEXT YEAR:
  • Reflections Chair – This person would oversee the Reflections program which allows students to submit artistic works (i.e. paintings, photos, creative essays, music compositions, etc.) There is a Howard County Reflections program, so there are clear guidelines to the program. Let Sharon Blessing (slbless@verizon.net) know if you are interested in helping with this.
  • Hospitality Team – If you would enjoy helping to coordinate and serve the MRHS staff several times during the year, this is for you! It’s a great way to get to know the teachers and a great way to show appreciation for the great education that they provide to our children. Let Sharon (slbless@verizon.net) know if you’re interested.
  • After Prom Co-Chair – This position will be responsible for helping to plan the After Prom party. If interested in hearing more about this, we will plan to meet early this fall to make decisions about After Prom 2020! Please let Sharon (slbless@verizon.net) know if you’re interested.
  • CAC Representative – If you are someone who is interested in policies that affect our students in Howard County, the Community Advisory Council works to improve policies that improve the education for our students. Please let Sharon (slbless@verizon.net) know if you’re interested.
