Leadership & Service Opportunity

All Middle and High School Students Welcome to attend the HCASC Meeting 4/10 7:00-8:30 at the Homewood School 10914 Clarksville Pike Ellicott City, MD 21042

We invite students to

  • Select the school mascot and colors for high school #13
  • Meet with the Student Member of the Board of Education
  • Practice civic engagement and serve as an informed voter in the general election 4/24
  • Gain Leadership Skills
  • Practice Community Service
  • Work with student leaders from across HCPSS

We welcome all interested students to attend Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) meetings throughout the year on the second Wednesday evening of each month.
Next Meeting Wednesday 4/10 7-8:30 at the Homewood School

Free Spring Break Meals Program April 15-18
The Howard County Public School System is partnering with the Howard County Department of Community Resources and Services, the Howard County Library System and the Community Action Council of Howard County to provide nutrition for children in need during Spring Break.
Lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday, April 15 through Thursday, April 18 at the following locations:
  • The Bain 50+ Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia, MD 21044
  • Howard County Library East Columbia Branch, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045
  • North Laurel Community Center, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel, MD 20723
All children age 18 and younger will receive a free meal. There is no application, enrollment or cost for this Spring Break meal program.

We invite members of KPO, CAPO, and IPO to come early at 6:45pm to socialize, meet the PTSA Board, and enjoy a cup of Chai Tea from Namaste.  Come find out what’s happening at The Ridge!

Parent Volunteers are Needed for MRHS AfterProm on May 4th/5th!  We have a fun night lined up with lots of food, games & activities but need your support to pull it all off! Our “Starry Night” AfterProm party is from 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4th to 3:00 a.m. Sunday, May 5th at Glenwood Community Center in Cooksville. Whatever time you have to volunteer, beginning with set up activities @ 9:00 p.m., is greatly appreciated. 2019 After Prom Ticket Sales: 
All Juniors & Seniors are invited to come to our 2019 “Starry Night” AfterProm party! You do not have to attend Prom to come to this AfterProm event. Your approved prom date/guest is also able to attend with you.
Don’t miss out on the great food, prizes, and awesome activities including Family Feud, Toilet Bowl Races, Money & Prize wheels, Criss-Cross Collision Course, Minute to Win It activities, carnival games and much more!
Tickets for AfterProm, as well as one-way bus transportation from the Marriott to Glenwood Community Center, will go on sale Tuesday, April 23rd through Friday, April 26th during all lunch shifts. Look for our ticket sale table in the Commons!
After Prom tickets are $10 each. Each attendee, including prom guests, must have a completed & signed 2-page waiver form (form also found on MRHS PTSA website) in order to purchase tickets. Bus tickets are an additional $10 each. Checks should be made payable to MRHS PTSA.

Screening of “Ansgt” and Discussion Around Anxiety in Youth
Join the Horizon Foundation and HCPSS for FREE documentary screening and panel discussion around anxiety in youth. “Angst” is a 55-minute film featuring candid interviews with children and young adults who struggle, or have struggled, with anxiety – including Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.
