At the Annual Physics Olympics held last week, MRHS earned first place in the Slow Descent Event. Congrats to Meghana Bhanuprasad, Lumya Rangoodwala, Daniel Park, Kwabena Aduse-Poku, and Hongze Khor.
Attention all students interested in tryng out for the 2019 Men/Women Varsity Tennis team. We will have an informational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 23:45 in the cafeteria. If you want to tryout for the team, please plan on attennding.
There will be a baseball meeting during Mustang Time on Wed., 1/30 for all students interested in playing baseball this Spring. Please report to Coach Eckert's room 338 for the baseball meeting during break time on Wednesday.

The Howard County Autism Society is hosting the Shine in Your Own Light Showcase this Friday evening, 1/25, at the Howard County Center for the Arts. Come support Howard County teens and young adults on the autism spectrum as they showcase their artistic talents. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going to support the Howard County Autism Society. For more information, please see Ms. Goldszmidt in room 305.

Isuru Hearath was named a Regeneron Science Talent Scholar for his research done at the National Institute of Health last summer. Out of 2,000 applicants, he was in the top 300 selected. Congrats Isuru!

The deadline for aplications for all students interested in taking GT Intern-Mentor or GT Independent Research is January 17. You can see Mr. Eckert in room 338 for an application or you can use the QR code on the fliers that are up around the schol. Again the application deadline for GT Reserach classes is January 17.
The Youth Project is hsting an event at River Hill on March 23rd from 11AM to 1PM where youth speak about social issues in or cmmunity and the world.
Student who have been accepted into the Spanish Honor Society, please RSVP to Sra. Bonner in room 311 before the end of the day. Remember to bring in your membership dues!

Attention students, if you are looking for that elective that is fun and challenging with opportunities to perform, registyer for dance! If you are new to dance, join Dance 1. If you have experience in outside studio dance, Cheer or Poms, then come to the auditions for levels Dance 2 thru Senior Company on January 29. You will take a jazz class and learn two combinations. On January 31, you will audition in groups of 4 after school. See Ms. Spruill for an audition packet.
Heads up Gamers! The 3rd Annual Super Smash Brothers Tournament will be sponsored by the MRHS Gaming Club, Friday January 25 from 6-9 pm. There will be both competitive and casual brackets for competitors. Sign-up today in the Media Center and prepare to "Settle It In Smash!"

Hey Marriotts Rige, Environmental Club wants to tell you about one of our new initiatives. We know that you try to bring your reusable bags when you shop. Have you ever wondered what happens to plastic bags? Thet ruth is plastic bags, zip-lock storage bags, wrapping from water bottle and paper towel cases, really any plastic film cannot be recycled in recycle bins? In an effort to keep these plastic bags out of landfills, we will be participating in a TREX recycling challenge. The plastic bags will be repurposed into decking. Students and staff can participate by bringing in plastic items such as, but not limited to, ziplock bags, bread and grocery bags, bubble wrap, and dry leaning baghs Bins are located in the Commns, the cafeteria, near the front office, and in front of Mrs. Kol's room 246. For more information, check out our posters around the school or ask any Environmental Club member.
