Withdrawal Date for Students to Drop Classes Please note that the county withdrawal date for students to drop courses without incurring a penalty is Thursday, October 18th. This is different than what is listed in the county calendar that was distributed to students at the beginning of the school year.

Coach Rayna DuBose has a tale of courage, perseverance to share with Women’s Giving Circle  Coach DuBose, Assistant Varsity Football Coach who works with the team on mental toughness, is a quadruple amputee who is also a motivational speaker and will address the Howard County Giving Circle on October 15.  The Baltimore Sun recently ran an article about Coach DuBose; to read the article click here.

Winter Coats: HCPSS Pupil Personnel Workers and PTACHC are supporting this outreach project.  Please drop off any winter coats, gloves, hats, or scarves in the large box by the front office through October 30.  Thank you for supporting those in need in our greater community!

 

Toiletries & Gently Used Toys and Board Games:  Help support Leadership U’s service project for Howard County General Hospital’s Pediatric Ward.  From October 1-23 there will be a collection of toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) and gently used toys and board games.  These donations will be directly going to the patients in Pediatrics.  Donation boxes will be placed near the front office.  Your donation will be helping to bring happiness to the children at HoCo General Hospital.  Please Donate!!

 

Jeans of any kind or size in good condition:   Do you have old jeans that don't fit or that you just don't wear?  The “Teens for Jeans” Drive has begun! Donate your old jeans to the box located outside of the front office from now until October 24.  All jeans will be donated to the Youth Empowered Center in Baltimore for homeless teens in the inner city.

HopeWorks is a Howard County nonprofit dedicated to providing resources to survivors of intimate partner violence.  These include legal services a help line, or a place to stay.   Leadership U has a group of students who have chosen to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, and to raise money for HopeWorks.  To support their efforts, please come out and support these restaurant nights! 

Oct. 15 at Chipotler on Route 40 from 5-9pm, just mention to the cashier that you want to support Hope Works.

Oct. 23 at Chik-Fil-A off Route 100 from 6am-10pm.

Homecoming Ticket Sales!

Online ticket sales begin Monday, 10/8 and will also be sold during all lunch shifts from 10/15-10/18.  All online payments must be printed and exchanged at the ticket tables during lunches for a ticket and shirt.    SGA class shirt sizes are on a first, come first served basis.

  • Dance Ticket: $20
  • Class Shirt: $15
  • Homecoming Dinner: $10
  • Homecoming Package: $40 (limited to first 300 people)

Dance Guest Approval Form
Do you want to bring a non-MRHS student as your guest?  You must complete the Dance Guest Approval Form and turn it in BEFORE you buy tickets.  Please do this ahead of time as the form needs to be sent to your guest’s school/employer.  No forms will be accepted after October 12.  For more information and to download the Guest Approval Form, click here.   

 

VOTER REGISTRATION  The Howard County Board of Elections will be at MRHS on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9 to register students to vote and to share about the opportunity to be an election judge for the November General Election. Students who are eligible to register should bring their driver’s license, permit, or the last four digits of SSN and stop by the table in the Commons during lunch shifts on Tuesday.

 

WINTER SPORTS REGISTRATION is now open online for athletic registration for all Winter Athletes.  Winter sports consist of Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Indoor Track, Wrestling, Cheerleading, and Allied Bowling.  Go to hcpss.org/connect and use the PARENT LOGIN to register TODAY.  All registrations will require a current utility bill to be uploaded.  New athlete registrations also require a physical form dated after April 1, 2018.
