High School – Parents still make the difference!

Are you ready for a great school year?  A great year in high school doesn’t just happen.  It takes preparation. Answer the following questions yes or no to see if you’re helping your teen prepare.

  1. Does your teen have a calendar for planning assignments? (HCPSS students will be provided with an agenda book on the first day of school.)
  2. Are you committed to visiting the school several times this year? (MRHS Back to School Night is September 6th.)
  3. Do you know who to contact at school if you need advice or help? (The MRHS Front Office and Student Services are excellent sources of information.)
  4. Does your family follow helpful routines, such as eating together and getting plenty of sleep?
  5. Has your teen established a regular study schedule?

How did you do?  Each “yes” answer means you’re helping your teen get ready for a successful school year.  For each “no”, use that idea from the quiz to change your response to yes.

“Once kids get excited and curious about learning, everything else will more or less fall into placem, even motivation and grades.” – Michael Riera, Ph.D.
