High School – Parents still make the difference!

Are you ready for a great school year?  A great year in high school doesn’t just happen.  It takes preparation. Answer the following questions yes or no to see if you’re helping your teen prepare.

  1. Does your teen have a calendar for planning assignments? (HCPSS students will be provided with an agenda book on the first day of school.)
  2. Are you committed to visiting the school several times this year? (MRHS Back to School Night is September 6th.)
  3. Do you know who to contact at school if you need advice or help? (The MRHS Front Office and Student Services are excellent sources of information.)
  4. Does your family follow helpful routines, such as eating together and getting plenty of sleep?
  5. Has your teen established a regular study schedule?

How did you do?  Each “yes” answer means you’re helping your teen get ready for a successful school year.  For each “no”, use that idea from the quiz to change your response to yes.

“Once kids get excited and curious about learning, everything else will more or less fall into placem, even motivation and grades.” – Michael Riera, Ph.D.

for All Freshman and Others New to MRHS!

All parents/guardians of freshman and others new to MRHS  are invited to attend the orientation with your child on Thursday, August 31 in the auditorium.  Attendees should arrive for "check-in" between 9:30-9:45 a.m. During the first portion of the orientation, staff will present information to ponder over the next four years of high school.  In the second portion, students will participate in activities, tours, and discussions with upperclassmen while parents/guardians remain in the auditorium for an informal Q&A session with the Administrative and Student Services staff.  We encourage ALL parents/guardians and new students to attend this orientation program.  Join us in thanking the Student Government Association (SGA) and the MRHS PTSA for co-sponsoring a pizza luncheon immediately following the orientation from 11:30-12:00 p.m.   All attendees are welcome to stay and eat lunch.
