MRHS Student Services Summer Information

MRHS Student Services will be open most days from 9am-2pm during the summer.  County-wide all Student Services offices will be closed from July 5th-9th.  School Counselors and Registrars are 11-month employees who will be working part-time during summer hours.

Please Note: All appointments during summer hours must be held virtually.  If you need to schedule an appointment with a staff member, please email them directly to set up a virtual appointment.  When emailing Student Services staff, you will initially receive an automated response with frequently requested information and links, which are also shared below.

How do I get support from my counselor in the summer?

  • While School Counselors do not work full time in the summer, we do work additional summer days throughout.  To contact us, please send us an email and we will respond on our work days.

What if my child needs immediate help with depression, suicidal thoughts, or other serious mental health issues? Please contact:

  • Grassroots Crisis Intervention at 410-531-6677

  • The Maryland Crisis Hotline: Dial 211 and then choose option 1

  • The Crisis Text Line: Text 741741 and a trained counselor will respond.

  • The National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255

How does my child get their schedule?

  • Families can view scheduled courses in Synergy.  Full schedules will be released by the county in August (exact date TBD).

How can my child request a schedule change?

  • Families can request a course change through the MRHS Course Change Request Form.  Please read the form carefully before submitting and note that changes are not guaranteed.

My child will be a senior next year, how do I find out information about college applications?

  • Please refer to information from last year’s Junior Parent Presentation and the Junior Student Presentation for recommendations on tasks to complete in the summer.

  • We will also be presenting to students during the very beginning of the 2021-22 school year on the procedures for how students can request to have college application materials shared with the colleges to which they are applying.

  • Please keep an eye out for more information and reminders sent via email throughout the summer from MRHS Student Services.

How do I request a transcript?

Who do I contact to register to come to Marriotts Ridge HS?

How do I apply for a work permit?

  • Work permits are required for minors under the age of 18 who work in Maryland.  Work    permits are completed online and DO NOT require verification from the school.  Information can be found online-- https://www.dllr.state.md.us/labor/wages/empm.shtml

How do I get my learner’s permit form completed?

  • The MVA is no longer requiring schools to verify attendance for students wanting to take the learner’s permit test.  This is the new Verification of Identify and/or School Attendance by Parent or Guardian MVA Form that a Parent/Guardian may sign-- https://mva.maryland.gov/Documents/DL-300A.pdf
