The 19th cohort of the International Parent Leadership Program recently graduated 32 parents from the six-week program that helps international parents understand the framework of the U.S. educational system and aspects specific to HCPSS.

Computer Science Education Week

 

Howard County students will join tens of millions of students worldwide to engage in computer science and coding activities during Computer Science Education Week, December 9-13, 2019.

 

Community Advisory Council Meeting

The agenda includes an overview of the HCPSS budgeting processes, presented by Daniel Lubeley, Acting Director of Capital Planning and Construction. Questions may be submitted in advance to cac.hocoboe@gmail.com.

 

Get Involved in Student Leadership and Service

 

Wednesday, December 11, 7 p.m., Homewood Center Cafeteria

Board of Education members and other elected representatives will discuss how students can effectively present their ideas and concerns at the local and state level. All middle and high school students are invited to participate in the monthly meetings of the Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC).

 

Schools, Offices to Close for Special Primary Election

 

Tuesday, February 4, 2020

All Howard County Public School System schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, due to the special primary election to fill the 7th congressional district seat vacated following the passing of Rep. Elijah Cummings.

On December 9, learn about the wide range of opportunities to become a special education teacher or related service provider at HCPSS.

 

Career Academies Information Session

 

Attendees to this information session on December 10 will learn how the CTE Career Academies provide high school students with opportunities to earn college credit, scholarships and industry certifications, and participate in worksite and mentorship experiences.

 

Call for Members: Science Advisory Committee

 

Applications will be accepted through Friday, December 13.

 

Nominate an Outstanding Principal or Teacher

 

Nominations for the HCPSS 2020 Principal of the Year and Teacher of the Year awards are due no later than Monday, January 6, 2020.
