The Marriotts Ridge High School Music Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2018-19 school year.  We are in search of candidates to fill Board Member position that will be voted at our annual Fine Arts Banquet on May 9 as well as individuals interested in chairing or co-chairing fundraising committees such as the Annual Flea Market, Jazz at the Ridge Cluster Concert, Kringles, and more.  Please join us for our monthly meeting on Thursday, May 3 at 7PM, if you are interested in learning more about the Music Foundation and the various positions we have available or contact us at mrhsmf@gmail.com

Hitching Post Sale!

It  is the end of the school year and we all know what that means . . . . Hitching Post is having a SALE!  Don’t forget Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are around the corner and everyone loves to receive Mustang Spirit Wear.  Stop by the Hitching Post on Thursday, May 10 or Friday, May 11 during lunch and after school to check out the good deals.  There will also be some limited evening hours on Thursday and Friday as well.

 

Summer Camps Early Bird Pricing Ends May 18!

Due to the adjustments to the HCPSS school calendar, we have made the following time change for camps held the week of June 18.

Girls Lax – June 18-19 will be 5-8 p.m. / June 20-21 will be 8-11:30 a.m.

Softball – June 18-19 will be 5-8 p.m. / June 20-22 will be 8-11 a.m.

Baseball – June 18-19, time TBA / June 20-21 will be 8-11:30 am.

Safe and Sound Schools Presentation:

Michele Gay, a Newtown Parent

May 3, 7 p.m., MRHS Auditorium

MRHS welcomes Michele Gay, a Newtown parent whose daughter was killed in the tragedy at Sandy Hook School. Michele founded the non-profit, Safe and Sound Schools, and will share the inspiring way she has chosen to help students and families find their voice and share their powerful perspectives to make schools safer.

         Michele will share her personal story and introduce the Safe and Sound Youth Council program as well as many other ideas for engaging students and parents in making meaningful change. She will be joined by school leaders and local safety personnel. A time for discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation.

Great News from Harris Teeter!

Marriotts Ridge families have reached Harris Teeter Together in Education incentive of receiving a bonus check of $1,000 by shopping HT this year!  Another $500 in qualifying sales by the end of May will get us to the next level and we will receive a bonus check of $2,000!   Please make sure your VIC rewards card is attached to MRHS PTSA to support our school and help us reach the bonus.

There are lots of ways to enroll:

  1. Ask the cashier to link MRHS to your card at the store when shopping. (#2607 is MRHS number)
  2. Go onto the MRHS PTSA website to link your card.
  3. Email francineabennett@verizon.net with your last name and phone number or VIC rewards number and she can link for you.

Keep up the great shopping, MRHS – and remember to re-enroll your card for next school year!

 

MRHS PTSA General Meeting

The Marriotts Ridge PTSA will hold a General Body Meeting on May 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing members to the PTSA Executive Board.  The current slate of officers is listed below.  All members of the PTSA are invited to attend. Before the elections, members will have an opportunity to nominate additional candidates for the Executive Board.  For information on the PTSA election process or procedures, please contact Swami Swaminathan at swami@usa.com or 515-745-6704.

The PTSA also offers various committee chair positions that are nominated by the Executive Board.  Those who are interest in serving as a committee chair are encouraged to reach out to the PTSA Executive Board.

“Night Under the Stars” – 2018 AfterProm Event
        All Juniors & Seniors are invited to come share a “Night Under the Stars” at our MRHS 2018 AfterProm event!  You do not have to attend Prom to come to this AfterProm event. Your approved prom date/guest is also able to attend AfterProm with you.
         Don’t miss out on the great food, exciting prize tables and awesome activities including Family Feud game show, Carnival games, Karaoke, Hippo Chow Down, Criss-Cross Collision Course, Giant Jenga & Connect 4, Photo Booth, Minute to Win It, Glow In the Dark Room and much much more!

 

MRHS AfterProm Ticket Sales  Tickets for AfterProm, as well as one way bus transportation from B&O RR Museum to Glenwood Community Center, will go on sale Monday, April 30th through Friday, May 4th during all lunch shifts
         Look for our ticket sale table in the Commons!   
         After Prom tickets are $10 each.  You must have a completed and signed waiver  (form also found on MRHS PTSA website) for all attendees, including prom guests, in order to purchase tickets.  Note: Waiver is 2 pages with signatures required on both pages!!
         The one way bus tickets are $10 per rider.  Checks should be made payable to MRHS PTSA.
