Are you a musical theater performer looking for the next big performing opportunity? Look no further, it is here! The 50th Columbia Festival Celebration is coming to Merriweather on April 23. All the high schools in Howard County are bringing casts from their Spring musicals to perform. We are in need of 10 to 15 movers/dancers to represent MRHS at this event. No dance experience necessary. Rehearsals begin after school on March 8- March 29 in the dance studio from 2:30-4. See Ms. Spruill during Mustang Time or see the information on the dance studio door. Student Book Club will discuss, Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell Block 25 by Richard Evans on March 27 after school in the media production room. Stop by the media center if you would like a copy of the book.

MRHS PTSA AfterProm committee will be holding a planning meeting on Tuesday, March 14th @ 7:00pm in Student Services. Anyone looking to help in final planning and pre-event project work is encouraged to attend. SUMMER CAMPS – Registration opened 2/13
Boosters-sponsored summer camps with by MRHS Athletic Coaches and Fine Arts Teachers take place each summer. We offer a complete selection of Sports and Music/Fine Arts Camps to choose from for students in 1st-12th grades. NEW THIS YEAR . . . Let’s Get Cooking Culinary Camp and Multi-Sport Camp! MRHS offers the ideal atmosphere for an exceptional summer camp experience with exposure to MRHS facilities and excellent staff. Leadership U Class of 2017 Are you thinking of college for your child? Let Leadership U help your current sophomore build the skills that will help them succeed! Leadership U can provide him or her a memorable week-long program of leadership development, networking, and community awareness. Beginning in July and continuing through the fall of their junior year with nine Sunday afternoon group meetings, LU will give your child the opportunity to meet new kids, utilize their leadership skills, and work on a community service project of their choice. Come learn more and speak to some of our grads at one of our final information session on March 2 at Miller Library from 7-8pm. HC DrugFree Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is open to all Howard County high school students and community service hours are available. The next two meetings will be on Mondays, March 13 and April 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Barn (Teen Center) in the Oakland Mills Village Center. Free pizza is provided. Teens must complete the registration form found on the Teen Advisory web page at www.hcdrugfree.org, and RSVP to Admin@hcdrugfree.org.
Mark Your Calendar - HC DrugFree Annual Senior Week: Staying Safe In Ocean City: Back by popular demand - Wednesdays, March 22 at Atholton High School and March 29 at Howard High School, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parents (and grandparents!) and high school seniors are encouraged to attend. Ocean City Police and Beach Patrol will provide safety tips about water, beach, drugs/alcohol, crossing the busy highway, and much more.
