The Maryland Seal of Biliteracy (SoBL) is an honor that recognizes students who have achieved high proficiency levels in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English and any of the 108+ languages approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. In HCPSS, this distinction is added to the official transcript of qualifying students at no cost.
Members of the Class of 2027 interested in earning the SoBL are encouraged to read this flyer and to apply by March 1, 2027. Students in grades 9-11 are encouraged to review the information and test in their language so that they are prepared to submit their scores at the beginning of their senior year.
