HCPSS Closing Friday, June 18, 2021

In alignment with the recent federal action making Juneteenth a federal holiday, the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Michael J. Martirano announce that Howard County Public School System schools and offices will be closed on Friday, June 18, 2021. This is consistent with state and county government announcements regarding closures.

Summer meals are not served on Fridays. State athletics contests will occur as scheduled. 

Saturday, June 19 is Juneteenth, a national commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. HCPSS calls on everyone to recognize the historic pain of deeply embedded injustices, and to join us in celebrating the racial diversity that is a cherished aspect of our school system and community.
