PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FAMILY FILE TODAY!

Greetings!  In case of emergency, it is vital the school can contact parents and guardians.  The front office has a list of students whose Emergency Info is not verified as current.

Please logon to Canvas as an Adult (not as the student).  Along the left hand side of the screen, there is a place to click on Family File. Please ensure the info is up-to-date and accurate.

Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Every family MUST update the family file every year! We would like to reach 100% completion this year! We still have over 400 students that need their family file updated. In order to keep our students safe, and to be able to contact families if there is an emergency, students will be required to have an updated Family File.

HCPSS uses Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect at http://www.hcpss.org/connect/ and selecting the Family File tab and then clicking on Family File. Once logged in, parents/guardians will be asked to provide or update the following information:

Student information
•    Parent/guardian contact
•    Emergency contacts
•    Medical information
•    Arrival/dismissal procedures
•    Media release (photo approval)
•    Data confidentiality
•    PTA/PTSA directory

Changes of address may not be made through Family File. If you have recently moved, please contact our Registrars’ Office at 410-313-5446. Resources on how to access Family File may be found online. Parents who have forgotten their login credentials may click the “Forgot Password” link on the sign in page. Thank you! Synergy-parent-access.pdf

Please note: Canvas works best in Google Chrome and Firefox on a computer or laptop. The app won't let you update the family file.

The Spanish Honor Society will be selling Yuda Bands (bracelets) from December 9th-20th.

The money raised from these bracelet sales is used to pay school fees for youth in developing countries so they can attend high school. The bracelets will be $7 and there are so many different symbols that they will make great holiday gifts.

Here is the profile of the student we will be sponsoring through the Yuda Bands project! His name is Marcos Geovany Ruiz Paredes and lives in Guatemala. He needs 424 more bands to be sold in order to fully cover his education. Hopefully we will be able to cover a good amount of this goal!

Getting ready to do some holiday shopping?  Please consider adding the Marriotts Ridge High School Boosters to your Amazon account to generate Amazon Smiles income for Boosters!  This COSTS you NOTHING and takes just a few minutes to set up.

How do I set up Amazon Smiles? It’s easy!  Go to smile.amazon.com and select “Marriotts Ridge High School Boosters Club Incorporated”  to receive donations from your eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation to Boosters.

How do I remember to use Amazon Smiles when I am shopping? That’s easy too.  When you sign up, you will be given an option to add an Amazon Smiles Bookmark button to your browser!  Start your amazon shopping at the bookmark each time you shop at Amazon and all your eligible purchases will generate income for Boosters.

Why should I support Boosters?  Boosters supports EVERY student at Marriotts Ridge through our annual budget.  So far this year, Boosters has provided SGA Homecoming support, wrestling mats, Band expenses and Science Olympiad support. And we are just getting started!

Senior Parents!  How does a $2000 scholarship award sound?  The MRHS Boosters Club awards two Senior Scholarships to help pay for enrollment at any accredited institution of high learning.  How do you apply?  Step One is making sure that your family is a member of MRHS Boosters!  To Join boosters, go to http://mrhs-boosters.com/membership.  To get more information about the Boosters Scholarship application, go to http://mrhs-boosters.com/senior-scholarships

Looking for a way to “Give Back” to our community?  Support the Homewood Center

Preparations for Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday gift giving are in full swing at the Homewood Center. The Homewood Center is the only alternative middle school and high school for the Howard County Public School System. Suzanne McMurtray, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Homewood, works tirelessly for these kids and appreciates any help you can offer.

1) They are currently collecting food and gift cards for their Thanksgiving holiday outreach. They need help stocking their food pantry, so please review the available slots on the SignUp Genius. In addition to items on the signup genius, their pantry is also currently low on deodorant and lip balm. Donations need to be in handed in no later than Wednesday, November 20th.

2) Homewood is also collecting attic treasures for its Recycled Attic Treasure Sale.  During this event, it allows the students to use their grades to "purchase" items for loved ones for the holiday season. If you would like to donate, items do not need to be new but should be in good, clean, working condition. Gifts for boys and men are needed the most. Other items on the “wish list” include sporting goods, video games, ear buds, toys, games and stuffed animals, holiday decorations, lotions and perfumes, and candles. Donations of new winter coats for preteens and teens also are requested. Gift bags, wrapping paper and tape come in handy to support the operation. These items are due by Friday, December 13th.
