New Color-Code System for Emergency Building Closures

Effective December 1, HCPSS is launching a color-coding notification system for emergency and other non-scheduled school closings, including for inclement weather. The operating status will be identified on the new Status website and communicated through multiple notification sources.

Call for Members: Science Advisory Committee

Do you have a background in the physical sciences or engineering? HCPSS is seeking additional members for the Science Advisory Committee. Members meet monthly to share their expertise, exchange ideas and provide support to improve the science instructional program for all students. Learn more and apply.

Howard County School Health Council General Meeting

 

Wednesday, December 4, 4-6 p.m., Howard County Library System Elkridge Branch, Belmont Meeting Room

The meeting will include a presentation on the county’s suicide prevention program and an update on the new MSDE health education regulations.

Reminders

 

Boundary Review Update

 

The Board is scheduled to make a final decision on boundary adjustments for the 2020-2021 school year during the November 21 Board meeting, which begins at 4 p.m.

 

Parent/Teacher Conferences

 

Parent/teacher conferences will be held Monday, November 25-Wednesday, November 27. Conferences can be scheduled online through HCPSS Connect, through November 22.

 

JROTC Applications

 

The JROTC program for high school students supports citizenship, character and leadership development.To apply for participation for the 2020-2021 school year, students must schedule an interview with JROTC officials between December 2, 2019 through January 3, 2020.
