School Counseling Week: February 4 - 8, 2019 is National School Counseling Week. Have you wondered why the name changed from "Guidance Counselor" to "School Counselor"? Historically, the term "guidance counselor" was used because counselors in schools main role was to "guide" students to college. This role has changed over the past decade. Today's school counselor focuses on a comprehensive approach focusing on emotional support, family intervention, social development, academic support, and career planning. School counselors are an important member of the educational team. They focus on a comprehensive approach, provide emotional support, provide family intervention, work to support the social development of our students, provide academic support, help with career and college planning, and so much more. Take a moment to thank your student’s school counselor this week!

MRHS Student Services is looking for parent volunteers to help with our Junior Interview Day, on March 27, 2019. The Junior Interview is a graduation requirement for all students. This process has been a huge success in the past because of the many parents who have volunteered their time. You will be conducting mock interviews and reviewing students’ resumes.
Junior Interview Day will be split into two sessions (7:30am-10:15am and 11:00am-2:10pm). We are aware of the time constraints limiting many professionals and invite you to attend one or both sessions. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all interviewers, compliments of Marriotts Ridge.
If you would like to help with our Junior Interview Day, please click on the link below BY FEBRUARY 22. We will contact you with additional details and information as we get closer to the Interview Day. Please note: We create our schedule based on your RSVP. If at all possible, please try to keep your volunteer slot. If you have any questions, contact Karen Leaf at 410-313-5446 orKaren_leaf@hcpss.org.
Thank you for helping our MRHS students!
We can’t hold this event without you!
