  • Trivia
    •  Does my student benefit from Boosters if they don’t play a sport?
    • A: Yes! If your student has ever sat on a bench, filled their water bottle up at a drinking fountain, looked at the electric sign in front of school, listened to the band or assembly speakers, played ping pong in the commons or participated in any clubs or teams, then they have enjoyed things that Boosters funds to make MRHS so extraordinary.

MRHS AFTERPROM

Attention Parents/Guardians – and not just parents of upper classman!  AfterProm needs your help!

AfterProm is not scheduled until May 4th, but various jobs need to be done NOW to once again provide a fun, safe, chemical-free, party for our Juniors & Seniors following Prom.

We are in need of volunteers, including, but not limited to:

  • PRIZE COMMITEE - Do you like to shop and find great bargains?  AfterProm is in need of a Prize Committee Chair and Committee Members to shop for AfterProm prizes now and co-ordinate the prize giveaways at AfterProm.  Any/all help is needed now to shop for prizes, co-ordinate prize "gift baskets" in March/April, and/or help specifically with prize table at AfterProm on May 4th.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please reach out!
  • COLLEGE CORNER - Always a favorite activity because each student gets a free item of their choice from a wide variety of items donated from colleges across the U.S.  Multiple volunteers are needed to email pre-written letters to a list of colleges in December / January.  This can be done at home, on your own time, but must be completed by end of January. One additional volunteer is needed to stop at school twice per week to pick up donations and track donated items once letters have gone out.
  • FOOD- Committee members are needed to plan and purchase food (and supplies) and co-ordinate AfterProm food set up on May 4th.
  • PUBLICITY - Volunteers are needed to create and distribute publicity for AfterProm.
  • OTHER - There are a wide range of volunteer opportunities prior to and during the AfterProm event. If you are not sure how you can help but would like to be kept up to date on any AfterProm volunteer opportunities, please let us know!!

Thanks in advance for your help in continuing to provide a fun, safe, After Prom opportunity for our students this year.  It takes many, many hands to make this event a success. Any amount of time you can provide is greatly appreciated!  We are very thankful for those who have already volunteered and look forward to hearing from more of our community!

Please reach out to Karen Chase at kmchase24@comcast.net with any questions or to advise on specific areas where you are interested in volunteering for AfterProm

HCPSS has confirmed the date window for the 2019 high school graduations. Commencement ceremonies will take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion between May 20–31, 2019. Specifically, ceremonies will be held between Monday, May 20 and Friday, May 24, and Tuesday, May 28 and Friday, May 31.

HCPSS has made this early announcement to enable planning by parents, students, schools and community members. We will provide the specific dates and times of each school’s graduation ceremony after Merriweather finalizes its concert schedule, historically in the early spring.
