Safe Driving and Parking Permits

September 20, 2018

To Student Drivers and Parent/Guardians,

On Monday, September 24, 2018, students who drive and park on school property during the school day will be required to clearly display their parking permit on the car’s rear-view mirror. Violations of the parking regulations as outlined in the MRHS Agenda Book (page 11) will result in consequences that may include the loss of parking privilege.

The MRHS Administrative Team wants to remind our student drivers to be safe and take the enormous responsibility of driving a motor vehicle seriously.

Parents/Guardians, please continue the conversations that you started after attending the Safe Driving Presentation with your student driver.   Remember:

  • Teens tend to take more risks than other motorists when driving.
  • They're more likely than other drivers to text while behind the wheel and exceed the speed limit.
  • Statistics show that most teen deaths in motor vehicle crashes occur between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and midnight.

We have already experienced several accidents involving student drivers this school year. Thankfully, no serious injuries were incurred.  Please do everything you can to make sure your student driver is driving safely, obeying traffic laws, and above all, drives with no unnecessary distractions.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students, your children, safe.
