News from PTSA, Boosters, Music Foundation

CDC Parking Reminder:  Marriotts Ridge HS houses a Child Development Center that is used by HCPSS employees for daycare of their young children.Between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., there are four parking spaces designated for the use of parents dropping off and picking up children enrolled in the program.These parking spaces are located directly outside the school entrance on the stadium side of our building. We ask that you please refrain from using these designated spaces, especially when picking up your student athlete before 6 p.m.Thank you for helping to keep these young children safe in our busy parking lot.

Marriotts Ridge High School is proud to present the hilarious musical farce created by Lisa Lambert and Bob Martin, The Drowsy Chaperone. This show within a show tells of a love-struck couple, an aloof chaperone, a harried producer, a desperate performer, jovial gangsters posing as pastry chefs and plenty more eccentric characters! What more do you need for an evening of entertainment? The Drowsy Chaperone runs March 22-25 at Marriotts Ridge High School; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 PM. Sunday at 3 PM. Advance tickets are available for $10 through OSP Online (scroll down the page) and $12 at the door. This production is recommended for audiences 10 and up.

MRHS PTSA MEETING – Monday, MARCH 12th at 7pm in Student Services Office. 

In light of the county-wide initiative to promote safety in schools, we will have someone sharing about Safe and Sound Schools, a non-profit organization started by a Sandy Hook mom.  Please join us - ALL are welcome!

Senior Class of 2018 Banners on Sale Now!!

It's time to order a Senior Banner for your graduating MRHS student.  The banners will be hung at the school starting early May. The white vinyl banners are approximately 36" in length by 24" in height and contain navy and grey lettering.

The cost is $35 per banner.  Orders are due by March 30, 2018.

Banner pick up will be after the Farewell Assembly.  Any banners not picked up at that time, will be included with the student's senior packet.  All profits will be donated to the PTSA.  Questions regarding the banners can be directed to Leigh McIntyre at

HC DrugFree presents

Senior Week: Staying Safe in OC

SENIORS and PARENTS OF SENIORS: HC DrugFree will offer our annual Senior Week: Staying Safe in Ocean City program. Attend to hear beach safety tips and beach-related police updates to keep your teen safe. Event will be March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Howard High School auditorium.

What’s your sophomore doing this summer? Leadership U can provide him or her with a unique week-long program of leadership development.  If your student is interested in building their professional network, community service, meeting student leaders from all over the county, having fun, and developing and strengthening their leadership skills, Leadership U may be the right fit for them.  Leadership U continues through the fall of their junior year with nine Sunday afternoon group meetings where students define, plan, and implement a student-driven team community service project.  Students put their leadership skills into ACTION!    LU APPLICATIONS ARE DUE THURSDAY, MARCH 15th.  Applications and information are available at  or contact Meg Ignacio at



HoCo Swim Meet will Donate to AfterProms

2018 Howard County Invitational Swim Meet on Sunday, April 15th at Howard Community College.  More information on Facebook, simply search for Howard County Invitational Swim Meet.

      For each county high school participating, the Clippers will donate money towards that school’s After-Prom party.  Additional money will be given for first, second, and third places.  Past winners tend to have higher participation, not necessarily the best swimmers.  

      The Team Captains representing your high school are To Be Determined.  Any student interested in becoming a Team Captain can contact us directly at

FYI – Students can list being a Team Captain on college and job applications.  


After Prom Planning is Underway! After Prom is an event held at the Glenwood Community Center from 11:30 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. after the May 12 Prom.  The MRHS PTSA plans this fun-filled event to provide a safe place for kids to continue the fun after the Prom.  It’s a great way to get involved and meet some other parents.  There will be many volunteer roles (i.e. setting up games, checking kids in, helping to run activities, serving food . . . and many more)!   We will be sending out a volunteer signup link soon. MRHS PTSA Senior Scholarships


$1,500 Scholarships will be granted to four seniors!
