High school students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to enter the WJZ 2018 Black Oratory Competition and potentially win $600 by composing an original essay in 600 words or fewer reacting to one of the following quotes:
- "To question what I see, then to question what I see after that, because the questions matter as much, perhaps more than, the answers." -- Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me
- "Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." -- Marian Wright Edelman
- "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." -- Malcolm X
