The Spring Sportsmanship/Meet the Coach Night will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 7pm. Spring Coaches will meet with the individual parents/guardians for their sport who are expected to attend.
PTSA Scholarship Application
The MRHS PTSA will award 4 scholarships, each in the amount of
$1500.00 to members of the class of 2016
Applicants Must
Be a senior currently enrolled at Marriotts Ridge High School.
Be a 2015 – 2016 MRHS PTSA member as of February 8, 2016.
Achieved at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 as of March 1, 2016.(confirmed by your guidance counselor)
Complete the an application
Submit the Application by April 9, 2016
Submit the completed application no later than Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. (with all signatures), along with your essay in a sealed envelope to the PTSA mailbox or to Ms. Romero in the front office. Address the envelope with: MRHS PTSA Scholarship Application
Upon submission, write Dave Brown, MRHS PTSA Scholarship Coordinator, at notifying him of such. Make sure you receive an e-reply from stating that your application envelope has indeed been received!
Class Ring Info for Sophomores
Interested in purchasing a class ring?  All sophomores will attend an informational meeting during break time on March 7, 2016 in the auditorium.  Ring sales will take place during lunch shifts on March 15th and 16th in the commons and after school from 4-6pm.  See you there!
Marriotts Ridge High School proudly presents, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, running March 17 through 20, 2016.
Based on the renowned comic strip by Charles Schulz, this musical gives us a glimpse into the life of your favorite animated underdog, Charlie Brown.
This family-friendly show originally opened in 1967, with a Tony winning revival in 1999 starring Kristin Chenoweth. Don’t miss the opportunity to see our talented cast bring some of your favorite cartoon characters to life!
The characters of Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder and Snoopy will be played by Zach Altenburg, Isabelle Stevens, Makarand Parigi, Rya Holzman, Zach Seals, and Duncan Tilles, respectively.
You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown plays at 7pm March 17-20 and at 3pm on March 20.

It's that time of year to order a senior banner for your graduating MRHS student!  The banners will be hung at the school starting in early May. The white vinyl banners are approximately 36" in length by 24” in height, and they contain navy and grey lettering.

The cost is $30.  Orders are due by April 8th, 2016.

2016 AP Exam Registration is now open!
Information regarding the 2016 AP Exam Registration and Fee Waiver Application is located on the Naviance Home Connections page. Registration must be done through the student’s (not parent’s log-in.) Registration is not complete until a signed copy of the registration survey and payment is received in Student Services.
Deadlines:    March 15 to avoid late fees
                   March 16 - April 1 - $20 late fee per registration
(Note: no registrations will be processed during Spring Break, March 25 - April 1)                
                   April 2 - April 15 - $55 late fee per registration
2016 AP Exam dates:  May 2 - 6 and May 9 - 13
Location:  Again this year, all exams, other than world languages, will be held at Circle D Farm in Lisbon.

Every year PTA Council of Howard County offers four different scholarships to graduating seniors throughout the county.  The deadline for the Scholarship applications is coming up quickly (April 15) and we are asking that your PTA/PTSA could submit a short announcement in your upcoming school newsletter alerting senior students of this opportunity.
PTACHC offers four scholarships that are available to all seniors in the Howard County system and can be used at any college, university, trade, technical, or community college:
Teacher Education Scholarship,
Academic Scholarship,
Dr. Charles Ecker Scholarship for Community and/School Service
M. Thomas Goedeke Scholarship for 2-year trade, technical field or associates program such as for a community college program.

Leadership U:  Is your student looking for leadership opportunities?  Does he or she want to make a difference?  Consider joining the Leadership U Class of 2016!  Leadership U is an exciting leadership, teambuilding, and community service opportunity for current high school sophomores.  This four-month program involves a week-long summer program of hands-on activities, as well as involvement in a team community service project.  This program is for students with leadership potential, a desire to learn with others, and for those with an interest in the community.  Come to learn more and speak to some of our grads at our FINAL information session:  March 3 – Miller Branch Library from 7-8pm.  Parents and students are encouraged to attend.  Applications and information are available in the Guidance Office or at

The MRHS Boosters Club will host the annual Mustang Madness Event on March 12 at Players Bar and Grill. Come join other parents for a night of fun and fundraising. There will be dinner, live music, raffles, prizes and a silent auction. The ticket price is $45 online at through March 10 and then will be $50 at the door.  Donations for the silent auction will be accepted until March 1. Howard County STEM Fair & Festival
The Howard County STEM Fair & Festival is an annual exhibition of projects developed by secondary school students interested in research. This year’s event reflects the same format as last year, to include both a judged fair portion (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) as well as a community festival of STEM. The community is invited to join us for this open event from 1 pm - 3 pm. The date for the event is Saturday, April 9, 2016

Learn everything you need to know about the SAT or ACT without wasting your student’s time or your money!  Enable your student to gain confidence in his/her test-taking ability, work to improve his/her college applications, and support MRHS all at the same time:  20% of all tuition collected is donated to MRHS PTSA!

Parent Volunteers – PLEASE READ
HCPSS has developed a brief training module and certificate of completion for anyone that volunteers at Marriotts Ridge or any other Howard County Public School.   Both the module and certificate are located on the HCPSS website, and we’ll also create links from your schools to this page under the “Get Involved” navigation tag. Parents/volunteers please  complete the training and submit your certificate of completion to the school before registering as a volunteer.
