Mustang Flea Market  -- Donation drop off this Saturday, 2/18!

Gently used items can be dropped off at the storage units in the parking lot next to the cafeteria this Saturday, Feb. 18, 9am-12pm.   Donations will also be accepted on Friday, 2/24 from 4-8pm.   Read more . . .

Save the Date . . . Saturday, March 25 for the MRHS Music Department’s 2nd Annual Mattress Fundraiser.   We hope this “save the date” memo acts as a reminder that if you are in need of a mattress, please mark your calendar and visit this mobile showroom.  Save up to 50% off retail, over 20 sets on display and a team of experts on hand to answer any questions, all while supporting the MRHS Music Program!

BOOSTER CLUB NEWS

 

Seniors, how have you made a difference at the Ridge?

BOOSTER  2017 SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS –

Application Deadline is February 24 at 2:30 p.m.

Mustang Booster Club will award two $2000 scholarships toward future education expenses. Scholarships honor two seniors who embody the Booster goal of “Making a Difference at the Ridge.”  Any eligible senior student may apply.  Complete application directions/information sheets are available in the Student Services office or by click here.   A completed application must be submitted to Ms. Dubbs in the Student Services office, in a sealed 9x12 envelope marked “Booster Scholarship” by 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017.  Winners will be announced in May.

We have beads, headbands, bandanas, tutus and other supplies you need in all the class colors – BLACK, PURPLE, PINK, and BLUE!  Join the fun and show your Mustang Class Spirit!  Hitching Post is open during lunch and after school.

 

SUMMER CAMPS – Registration opened  2/13

Boosters-sponsored summer camps with by MRHS Athletic Coaches and Fine Arts Teachers take place each summer.  We offer a complete selection of Sports and Music/Fine Arts Camps to choose from for students in 1st-12th grades.    NEW THIS YEAR . . . Let’s Get Cooking Culinary Camp and Multi-Sport Camp!  MRHS offers the ideal atmosphere for an exceptional summer camp experience with exposure to MRHS facilities and excellent staff.  Most camps run for 5 days with weekly sessions beginning June 9th, ending the week of July 31st.  For more information including the camp descriptions and schedules, CLICK HERE.

The Boosters Annual Fundraiser!

Location: Players Bar & Grill (in the Waverly Shopping Center)

Time: 7-11 PM

Come join other parents/guardians for a night of fun and fundraising.  There will be dinner, raffles, prizes, a silent auction and music featuring The Dixon Ulmer Band.  Donations for the silent auction will be accepted until March 1. Community Notices & Events

The Centennial High School's Girl Up organization would like to welcome you and your students to the Howard County Girl Up Leadership Summit of 2017.

      On Saturday, February 18th, we will be hosting an leadership summit to increase awareness and action for women's and young girls' rights all across the globe. From 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Miller Branch Library (the Avalon meeting room), there will be numerous guest speakers from around the community, leadership workshops, and empowerment activities with prizes. Girls and boys from middle and high schools all around Howard County are invited to participate in this event.

      Registration is free, so please come out to support our club and adolescent girls everywhere! Though there is no admission fee, we ask that you make a donation of $5 to the Girl Up campaign. Every penny counts towards helping one disadvantaged girl achieve her dreams! Leadership U Class of 2017  Are you thinking of college for your child?  Let Leadership U help your current sophomore build the skills that will help them succeed! Leadership U can provide him or her a memorable week-long program of leadership development, networking, and community awareness.  Beginning in July and continuing through the fall of their junior year with nine Sunday afternoon group meetings, LU will give your child the opportunity to meet new kids, utilize their leadership skills, and work on a community service project of their choice.  Come learn more and speak to some of our grads at one of our final information session on  March 2 at Miller Library from 7-8pm.  Parents and students in both 9th and 10th grade are encouraged to attend.  Additional information is available at www.leadershiphc.org or email Meg Ignacio mignacio@leadershiphc.org.   Applications are due March 16, 2017.

 

HC DrugFree Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is open to all Howard County high school students and community service hours are available. The next two meetings will be on Mondays, March 13 and April 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Barn (Teen Center) in the Oakland Mills Village Center. Free pizza is provided. Teens must complete the registration form found on the Teen Advisory web page at www.hcdrugfree.org, and RSVP to Admin@hcdrugfree.org.

Mark Your Calendar - HC DrugFree Annual Senior Week: Staying Safe In Ocean City: Back by popular demand - Wednesdays, March 22 at Atholton High School and March 29 at Howard High School, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parents (and grandparents!) and high school seniors are encouraged to attend. Ocean City Police and Beach Patrol will provide safety tips about water, beach, drugs/alcohol, crossing the busy highway, and much more.
