MRHS PTSA NEWS
The February PTSA Meeting scheduled for 2/14 has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16. All are invited to attend . . . we meet at 7p.m. in Student Services.
Additionally, for the remainder of this year PTSA will meet on the second Thursday of each month instead of the second Tuesday. Please note date changes for the remaining will be
March 9 – April 20 – May 11 – and June 8.
PTSA sponsored MRHS School Directory was distributed last week, one per family, to the youngest or only MRHS student in the family. If you have not yet seen your family’s copy, please check with your child; it may very well be in his or her backpack!

Attention Parents/Guardians – and not just those of upper classmen
MRHS AFTER -PROM NEEDS YOUR HELP!
AfterProm is not scheduled until April 29th, but various jobs need to be done NOW to once again provide a fun, safe, chemical-free, party for our Juniors & Seniors following Prom.
We are in need of volunteers for a number of different positions, including, but not limited to:
“COLLEGE BOOTH” -- Always a favorite activity because each student gets a free item of their choice from a wide variety of items donated from colleges across the U.S. Multiple volunteers are needed to email pre-written letters to a list of colleges. This can be done at home on your own time, but needs to be completed before end of February. One volunteer is also needed to update a spreadsheet as donations are received.
FOOD -- Committee members are needed to plan & purchase food (and supplies).
PUBLICITY -- Volunteers are needed to create & distribute publicity for AfterProm.
MISC., OTHER -- There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities prior to and during the AfterProm event. If you are not sure what you can help with, but would like to be kept abreast of any AfterProm volunteer opportunities, please let us know!!
Thanks in advance for your help in continuing to provide a fun, safe, After Prom opportunity for our students this year. It takes many, many hands to make this event a success. Any amount of time you can provide is greatly appreciated! We are very thankful for those who have already volunteered their time and look forward to hearing from more of our community!

Mustang Flea Market -- First donation drop off is this Saturday, 2/11!
Gently used items can be dropped off at the storage units in the parking lot next to the cafeteria this Saturday, Feb. 11, 9am-12pm. Future collection days will be Saturday 2/18 from 9am-Noon and Friday, 2/24 from 4-8pm. Read more . . .

SUMMER CAMPS – Registration begins 2/13
Boosters-sponsored summer camps with by MRHS Athletic Coaches and Fine Arts Teachers take place each summer. We offer a complete selection of Sports and Music/Fine Arts Camps to choose from for students in 1st-12th grades. NEW THIS YEAR . . . Let’s Get Cooking Culinary Camp and Multi-Sport Camp! MRHS offers the ideal atmosphere for an exceptional summer camp experience with exposure to MRHS facilities and excellent staff. TEDx Talk hosted by Reservoir High School. The theme for this talk is the domino effect—how one small thing can make a big difference. The talk will feature eight speakers (4 adults and 4 students), who will discuss topics ranging from leadership, parenting, the environment, video games and menstrual cycles, and art. The event will be held on February 11 at Reservoir High school from 2-7pm. The tickets are $5 and can be bought through the link below or at the door the day of the event. The Centennial High School's Girl Up organization would like to welcome you and your students to the Howard County Girl Up Leadership Summit of 2017.
On Saturday, February 18th, we will be hosting an leadership summit to increase awareness and action for women's and young girls' rights all across the globe. From 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Miller Branch Library (the Avalon meeting room), there will be numerous guest speakers from around the community, leadership workshops, and empowerment activities with prizes. Girls and boys from middle and high schools all around Howard County are invited to participate in this event.
Registration is free, so please come out to support our club and adolescent girls everywhere! Though there is no admission fee, we ask that you make a donation of $5 to the Girl Up campaign. Every penny counts towards helping one disadvantaged girl achieve her dreams!
