Please support and join us in the auditorium this evening, Thursday, February 18th, from 7 - 9 pm for CLASS ACTS. A fun tradition at MRHS where the Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes compete against each other in this light hearted talent show. A great family and community event for all to attend. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Lifetouch Photography will be at Marriotts Ridge High School on March 2ndfor anyone who has not yet had their senior portrait (drape/tuxedo pose) for the yearbook.
On March 2nd, they will also be doing retakes for seniors wishing to have their picture taken in the blue cap/gown.

Leadership U: Is your student looking for leadership opportunities? Does he or she want to make a difference? Consider joining the Leadership U Class of 2016! Leadership U is an exciting leadership, teambuilding, and community service opportunity for current high school sophomores. This four-month program involves a week-long summer program of hands-on activities, as well as involvement in a team community service project.
This program is for students with leadership potential, a desire to learn with others, and for those with an interest in the community. Film-Savvy Teens Win $100 by Winning the HC DrugFree Category at HoCo FilmFest: HC DrugFree is looking for film-savvy teens to enter the HC DrugFree Category in the 2016 HoCo FilmFest. The Atholton High School Becca’s Closet needs your help!
My name is Adrienne Vaughn. I am a student at Atholton and am club President of Atholton's chapter of Becca’s Closet.
Volunteer-led Becca’s Closet chapters throughout the U.S. donate formal dresses to high school girls with financial need so they can attend their school-sponsored military balls, homecomings and proms in style. New and gently worn dresses are donated to our chapters by generous individuals, retailers and manufacturers, and chapter volunteers donate them to local girls who need them.
Last year, the Atholton chapter collected over 100 dresses. This year, our goal is to collect and distribute even more! On February 27th we will be hosting a dress drive in Atholton's lobby.

The JZ's Pizza Truck will be back this week: February 17th, 18th, and 19th from 2:45 until 7:00pm. They are unique and delicious. Announcing a New Business Patron Tier for the MRHS Music Foundation
Marriotts Ridge High School consistently offers a top-notch music program to its students, thanks, in part, to the generous financial support of local family and business patrons.
In response to recent feedback from small business owners, the Marriotts Ridge Music Foundation will now offer a Coppertier of support for businesses wishing to donate less than $100. Copper contributors’ names will be listed in the business section of the music concert programs.
All new family and business patrons must submit their donations by Friday, April 15 if they would like to be recognized in the Spring Concert programs. The names of those who donated earlier in the school year will already be included in program listings. The MRHS Music Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization, so your contributions are 100% tax deductible.

Information regarding the 2016 AP Exam Registration and Fee Waiver Application is located on the Naviance Home Connections page. Registration must be done through the student’s (not parent’s log-in.) Registration is not complete until a signed copy of the registration survey and payment is received in Student Services.

On Wednesday, March 2nd, the Howard County Office of Consumer Affairs and Consumer Advisory Board will host a Student Loan Forum and Resources Fair, “Know Before You Owe!”. The purpose is to help prospective students and families make informed decisions on how to: finance higher education, determine manageable debt loads, shop for student loans and avoid consumer scams surrounding higher education. Our speakers include representatives from Howard County Consumer Affairs, HCPSS, Howard Community College, US Department of Education, the MD Attorney General’s Office, and the Consumer Finance Protection Board.

Safe Driving Presentation – as part of the HCPSS procedures, all students who plan to drive to school and at least one parent/guardian MUST ATTEND a mandatory safe driving presentation. This mandatory meeting must be attended each school year. Students will receive a parking permit once both the student and parent/guardian attend a safe driving presentation and the application process is complete. The next safe driving presentation will be held on March 3 at 6:30 pm at Howard High School.
The MRHS Boosters Club will host the annual Mustang Madness Event on March 12 at Players Bar and Grill. Come join other parents for a night of fun and fundraising. There will be dinner, live music, raffles, prizes and a silent auction. The ticket price is $45 online at mrhs-boosters.com through March 10 and then will be $50 at the door. Donations for the silent auction will be accepted until March 1. Spring Sports Season
The Spring Sports season will begin Tuesday, March 1st. The following information will be helpful for any student who plans to try out for Girls and Boys Lacrosse, Outdoor Track, Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Allied Softball. Allied Softball tryouts will begin later than March 1st. That date still has not been determined.
Students must be academically eligible. They must have a 2.0 GPA with no more than one failing grade for the second marking period.
All Students must be insured.
They must have the following documents on file on March 1st.
Current Physical dated after 4/1/2015 A physical is needed yearly.
Copy of Birth Certificate- if they have tried out before, this document is already on file.
Proof of Residency- every sports season. BGE bill is best.
Athletic Participation- needed each sports season
Concussion Testing- once taken, this is good for 2 years.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest- once a year
All forms can be taken from the MRHS website. They should be turned into the coach prior to tryouts.
Concussion testing for spring sports will be given in the Media Center Computer Lab by our trainers, Phyllis Sanders and Carly Hayes, at 3:30 and 4:30 on the following dates:
2/22 Boys Lacrosse
2/23 Girls Lacrosse
2/29 Track (Pole Vaulters Only) and any Make Ups
Track (except Pole Vaulters) and Tennis Athletes do not need to be tested.
Session will begin on time. Lateness will exclude you from the session.
Spring Sportsmanship night will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 7pm. One parent or guardian is expected to attend. Students do not need to attend.

The Howard County STEM Fair & Festival is an annual exhibition of projects developed by secondary school students interested in research.
