3rd Annual Mattress Fundraiser this Saturday, March 24 from 10am to 5pm in The Commons at MRHS.  This event has been VERY successful in the past and proceeds benefit the MRHS Music Program.  If you are in need of a mattress, please come visit the mobile showroom!  This is the time to buy and save up to 50% off retail, all while supporting our program.  There will be 20+ sets on display and a team of experts on hand to answer any questions you may have.  This is a no pressure sale, just stop in and take a look.  Even ayaway and delivery are available to make it easy on you.  It is a pleasure to be able to find a way to help our students while providing cost savings to our community.  We appreciate your support of our fundraiser and hope you spread the word to neighbors, family and friends.

 

Jazz at the Ridge will be held Wednesday, April 11 @ 7PM.  Tickets are $10 in advance and can be ordered by sending an email with number of tickets and your contract information to jassattheridge@gmail.com   Advance ticket orders will be available at will call the evening of the performance.  At the door tickets will be $12.

Reflections Winners 

Congratulations to MRHS Howard County Reflections winners!  The following students placed in the HoCo High School Division:

  • Zhuoguan Li (Peter) – Visual Arts, 1st Place
  • Juliana Yu – Visual Arts, 2nd Place
  • Srishti Kalepu – Photography, 1st Place
  • Emily Taylor – Music Composition, 2nd Place
  • Kealy Faughnan – Literature, 3rd Place

In addition, the following students have placed at the Maryland State Level.

  • Zhuoguan Li (Peter) – Visual Arts, 1st Place  Peter’s submission will go on to represent the State of Maryland in the National Reflections’ Competition.

Need a Prom dress? Atholton High School’s “Becca’s Closet” is partnering with the Zeta Phi Beta sorority to hold the 5th annual “A Pretty and Polished Affair”. At this event, girls will have the opportunity to take home prom/homecoming dresses, jewelry, and shoes. Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics (WIAA) organization at the University of Maryland will be hosting 100 high school students, accompanied by a parent, for WIAA Day on Sunday, April 8th. The theme for this year's WIAA Day is the James Webb Space Telescope to celebrate its upcoming launch. The event will include keynote speeches from females atop the aerospace industry, aerospace lab tours, student and industry member panels, an engineering organization information fair, and a chance for students to work in teams during a mission design competition. 

      Parents will also participate in lab tours, the information fair, and hear from panelists. Additional presentation topics for parents include Resident Life, Living and Learning Programs, and Study Abroad.

Senior Class of 2018 Banners on Sale Now!!

It's time to order a Senior Banner for your graduating MRHS student.  The banners will be hung at the school starting early May. The white vinyl banners are approximately 36" in length by 24" in height and contain navy and grey lettering.

Not sure about a college decision? You can still order a banner, there is no pressure to put the name of any particular college on your child’s banner.  Just say, “Good Luck!” or “We love you!” or “Reach for the stars!” or ANY WORDING of your choosing. 

The cost is $35 per banner.  Orders are due by March 30, 2018.

HC DrugFree presents

Senior Week: Staying Safe in OC

SENIORS and PARENTS OF SENIORS: HC DrugFree will offer our annual Senior Week: Staying Safe in Ocean City program. Attend to hear beach safety tips and beach-related police updates to keep your teen safe. Event will be March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Howard High School auditorium.

 After Prom Planning is Underway! After Prom is an event held at the Glenwood Community Center from 11:30 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. after the May 12 Prom.  The MRHS PTSA plans this fun-filled event to provide a safe place for kids to continue the fun after the Prom.  It’s a great way to get involved and meet some other parents.  There will be many volunteer roles (i.e. setting up games, checking kids in, helping to run activities, serving food . . . and many more)!   We will be sending out a volunteer signup link soon.
