Due to damage from recent storms to much of the citrus crops in Florida and Texas, we have chosen not to sell oranges and grapefruit this year.  For those wanting to order citrus, please support a local high school music program such as River Hill, Mt. Hebron or Glenelg.

PTSA Meeting scheduled for December 11 has been canceled.  Our next meeting will be Monday, January 8 at 7pm in Student Services.

 

Restaurant Raffle  Send It appears that some MRHS families did not receive their blue envelopes in the mail.  If that is the case, please send your mailing address to Theresa Yodzis at tbone119@comcast.net .    ALSO, if you have friends, neighbors, or relatives that live locally who would like to participate in our Restaurant Raffle, Theresa will be happy to send them a blue envelope!  Just email names and address to Theresa and she will do the rest!    AND . . . don’t forget to return your ticket stubs!  If you want/need more tickets, see Mrs. Lockhoff or Mrs. Romero in the front office.  Prize drawing will be held on December 15.    For more information on this fundraiser, visit the PTSA website or contact Theresa Yodzis at tbone119@comcast.net

 

Senior Scholarships  If your MRHS Senior would like to apply for one of the four $1500 PTSA Scholarships they must be a member of the MRHS PTSA.  Please visit our website at www.mrhsptsa.org for membership information.    More information on the Senior Scholarships will be coming soon!

SAT/ACT Practice Test  Do you know which test you should prep for?  Find out by taking Kaplan’s combo practice test.  You’ll get to try the content, timing, and format of each test, so that you will know which exam to focus on.

Winter Concessions  We have moved inside for the winter sports season!  The stand might be small, but we still serve up hotdogs, pizza, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, drinks and snacks!!  Please sign-up for a slot (or two) and volunteer just a little of your time for a great cause --- OUR KIDS!  Inside concessions will be open for home basketball (boys and girls) and wrestling matches with dates available now through mid-February!

Community News and Programs

 

QuHacks Hackathon If you’re interested in computer science, come to the second annual QuHacks Hackathon! High school students from across Maryland will gain programming experience and learn more about computer science through workshops and by coding a project throughout the day. No prior experience is necessary! The Hackathon includes presentations by guest speakers and workshops to give you a crash course in a variety of areas, such as: Java, Web development, and Android app development. Students may work in groups of up to 2 members.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided!  The Hackathon will be held at the Commons at UMBC, from 9:30AM-6:30PM. HC DrugFree: TAC (Teen Advisory Council) will meet Monday, December 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Barn(Teen Center) in the Oakland Mills Village Center. TAC is open to all Howard County high school students and community service hours are available. Free pizza. Teens and parents must complete the registration form found on the Teen Advisory Council page at www.hcdrugfree.org and teens must RSVP to Admin@hcdrugfree.org before each meeting.
