A few reminders:

  • Complete the Family File for your child(ren) by verifying and updating your critical emergency information. Our goal is to be 100% completed by Friday, September 15.
  • Students came home with important information today. Please be sure to review all paperwork. Parents and guardians will need to sign and return several forms, specifically the HCPSS Code of Conduct (first page) and Dance Guidelines (last page), and the MRHS Academic Code of Honor & Integrity.  All signatures need to be collected by Friday, September 8.
  • Stay up-to-date with Today’s Topics, Bits & Bridles, MRHS website and calendars (school and athletics) and the HCPSS Calendar. We highly encourage using the HCPSS Mobile Applications for News and Canvas-Parent! The free apps are available on iTunes and Google Play.

Theatre Department

Our next production is the female version of The Odd Couple.  Students who wish to audition or join tech crew should attend the workshop on Wednesday, September 6 from 2:30-3:00 in room 104.  Auditions will be held September 13 at 2:30 in the auditorium. We hope to see you there!

Speech and Debate

Our Speech and Debate will host a Parent-Student Kick-off Meeting on Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  If you are interested in being part of the MRHS Speech & Debate Team, please plan to join us!

MRHS Media Center says, “Welcome back!”  

Mr. McDonald and Mrs. Rashid would like to welcome Mrs. Derwart back to the newly reinstated position of Media Secretary!  

  • Our new media center hours will be 6:50 AM to 3:30 PM daily.
  • Etools and databases can be accessed from home, without usernames and passwords through MackinVia from the link on hcpss.me or through the MRHS Media Center website, with the usernames and passwords available in print from the media circulation desk.
  • Freshman media orientations are under way!
  • MRHS is participating in the One Maryland One Book initiative!  We have 30 copies of, Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie available for check out in the library.  All interested students are invited to discuss the book on Monday, 9/25 after school from 2:15-3 PM in the media center.  Further information can be found here
  • Student Book Club’s first meeting will be on 9/25 to discuss the #1MD1BK title, see above.  Future meetings will be held on the last Monday of each month.  Students are encouraged to drop in anytime throughout the year; a year long commitment is not necessary.  Updates will be provided in the MRHS Student Resources course which can be access here.
  • All students will be receiving an A+ Student library card from the Howard County Public Library.  Students will be able to access the extensive electronic resources provided by HCPL including articles, books, standardized testing support and dozens of academic support resources for the various content areas.  Further information can be found here.
