MRHS Music Foundation Last Citrus Sale Once again, the sale will have Navel Oranges and Red Grapefruit in 20 or 40 lb boxes and also a 20 lb combo box of both.  All fruit will be delivered from Texas and will be comparable to the high quality Florida products from previous years.   Orders are online only with payment through Paypal and all major credit cards at MRHSFruit.com  Sale runs 12/2 through 12/17 with tentative delivery scheduled for 1/21.  Thank you for support the music students!

Homewood’s Annual Recycled Treasure Sale! 

This year, Homewood expects to help over 100 needy students “shop” for the holidays. Every Homewood student will use their grades to “purchase” items for loved-ones and have them gift wrapped.  Homewood is asking for help and Marriotts Ridge is happy to support them.  Donated items may be dropped off in the MRHS front office through Tuesday, December 13.

  Items needed include:

* Boy’s and Men’s Items (This is most difficult room to fill!) 

* Sporting Goods like Basket Balls, Footballs, and Team Spirit Items 

* Video Games 

* Children’s Toys 

* Stuffed Animals 

* Games 

* Decorative Home Goods 

* Holiday Decorations

During the 2016 legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly passed House Bill 1105 (“H.B. 1105”). This bill tasked the Maryland Office of the Public Access Ombudsman to investigate and issue a public report by January 1, 2017 concerning the Howard County Public School System pertaining to the handling of public records and Public Information Act requests during the period from July 1, 2012 through December 31, 2015. 

The Ombudsman is seeking comments on the Preliminary Findings as part of this report and believes that your members will have added value.  

Deadline for comments is December 5.

Social Studies NHS fundraiser at Pie Five in Ellicott City   Please come out and support the Social Studies National Honor Society on Monday, December 5th at Pie Five in Ellicott City.  20% of all proceeds will go to the Social Studies National Honor Society and help fund their community based service projects.  In addition, these proceeds will help to send holiday care packages to US troops overseas.  Make sure to come out and show your support

NHS Toy Drive  The National Honor Society students are collecting Toys for Tots to be donated through the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.    Students should bring donated toys to their sixth period classes or to Room 305.  Classes that bring in the most toys will be recognized.   Deadline for Toys-4-Tots is December 15; after that date, any toys donated will go to the Grassroots Emergency Shelter.

Winter Concessions Seeks Volunteers!  MRHS Students may sign-up for service hours when at least ONE adult is working.  Students may not be the only people working in the booth.  When signing-up please indicate if you are an ADULT or STUDENT.   Please sign up and let us know we can count on you!
