Harmony for Peace Concert on October 24, 2015

MRHS music students, Benjamin Giroux, Caitlin Fildebrandt, and Samuel Lam participated in the Harmony for Peace Concert on October 24, 2015 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.  Ben, Caitlyn and Sam are members of the Johns Hopkins University Peabody Youth Orchestra (PYO), which was invited to participate in the “Celebrate Peace for UN70” events.


World renowned composer of “The Lord of the Rings” Symphony, Johan de Meij, conducted “Gandalf” from The Lord of the Rings Symphony, and “Mother Earth” from Symphony No. 3 Planet Earth.PYO Music Director, Dr. Harlan Parker, conducted “Jupiter” from Gustav Holst’s The Planets.


Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma, violinist and sister of Yo-Yo Ma, was among other celebrated musicians to perform. The concert celebrates the United Nations longstanding efforts for global peace and universal rights, using music as the vehicle of communication.  For more information:    http://harmonyforpeace.org
